Beykent University in Istanbul has invested in Wisenet video surveillance cameras to help medical students achieve their qualifications.
Demir Yavuz, General Secretariat Operations Manager for Beykent University, explains why high definition Wisenet cameras have been installed in the universities audiometry lab. “We normally have
a class of 20 students, but only 3 of them are able to be in our silent cabin at any one time. We have installed Wisenet cameras in the cabin so that the 17 students standing outside are able to observe what is happening when hearing tests are being carried out.
“In addition, we have been able to put Wisenet cameras to good use in our advanced simulation lab within which we have 3 patient simulation rooms. In order for more students to see the activity taking place in these rooms, we have built an additional observation room where images captured by Wisenet cameras located in the patient simulation rooms, are displayed. Students watching in the observation room can therefore learn from the good examples, as well as the mistakes made by fellow students.”
Beykent University was established as a not-for-profit organisation by the Adem Çelik – Beykent Education Foundation and began its educational programmes in the 1997-1998 academic year. Since then it has grown its teaching and research facilities over 5 campuses for a population of approximately 29,000 students. The University offers a high quality learning experience which includes 72 Associate Degree, 69 Undergraduate and over 50 Postgraduate programmes.
The University has also deployed Wisenet cameras in order to help create a safe and secure environment for students and tutors. “Approximately 240 Wisenet IP cameras are currently active at our Avalon Campus where our Medical School and Faculty of Dentistry are located, but we have a total of 350 cameras installed if we take into account our other campuses,” said Barkin Oktem, IT manager at Beykent University. “The most important reason for us choosing Wisenet products was the efficient way they work smoothly with software applications. The functionality promised to us at the sales stage has been delivered and the Hanwha Techwin team in the Turkey office have handled the project with care from start to finish. They have always been just a phone call away when we needed them for problem solving and the extensive training provided, as well as their willingness to ensure continuity of the project which has been a major benefit to us.
“As a result, we will be continuing to install Wisenet cameras in other locations throughout the University and are planning to have about 700 installed by the end of the project.”
